Pontypool man launches new garden landscaping business

A man from PONTYPOOL started his own landscaping business after a struggle for support that almost made him give up on his dream.

Amos Jones set up AJ Gardening Services with the help of Communities for Work Plus.

Mr Jones had been struggling to get the support needed to start the business since he decided to pursue the idea.

He contacted the Communities for Work Plus project, which was able to support him in its business plan and in the design of the logo and marketing materials.

Mr Jones had previously purchased a van and had a list of services he would provide, but the Welsh government-funded project was able to fund gardening equipment and outerwear for Mr Jones, and the center for the Job was able to fund its marketing expenses – flyers, handwriting for his van, business cards and receipt books.

To help him start his business, Mr. Jones received support from Communities for Work Plus through an employment mentor, the project’s Employer Liaison Officer and their Project Officer. ‘commitment and support for participation.

“I couldn’t be more grateful to Clare, Rich and Mel [from Communities for Work Plus] for all of their help in starting my own business, ”Mr. Jones said.

“They supported me from day one and I knew I could reach them on the phone whenever I needed advice.

“I would also like to thank my work coach at [Pontypool] job center for helping me too – at one point I thought I couldn’t get any support but the CfW + team in Torfaen made sure I had all the help I needed.
