Peter White, 75, loved hiking, water sports, motorcycling, gardening; Starting a landscaping business

Peter Anderson White, a longtime resident of Old Saybrook, died August 8, 2022 at West Haven VA Medical Center after a long illness. He was 75 years old.

Obituary Flower Obituary ObituaryPeter was born in the Bronx to the late Jack and Katherine White née Anderson. He grew up in Darien and graduated from Darien High School.

Peter was proud to have served his country in the US Army during the Vietnam War from 1966 to 1968. He attended Middlesex College upon his return from Vietnam.

Peter loved gardening and being outside in nature. He started his landscaping business, White’s Yard and Lawn Works, in 1993 and worked hard to provide quality service to his clients.

Peter really enjoyed spending time with his family and many friends, having coffee and chatting, hiking Rocky Neck State Park, water sports, Long Island Sound, the Connecticut River and riding his motorcycle Kawasaki.

Peter was predeceased by his brother, Jack; and his companion, Marie, to whom he devoted himself for 30 years. He is survived by a daughter, her husband, a granddaughter and cousins.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, August 20 at Fountain Hill Cemetery, 57 High St., Deep River.
