A Bury St Edmunds landscaping company has won a platinum award at the first BBC World Gardeners’ Autumn Fair.

The Gadd Brothers team won the Vocational Skills Competition at English Heritage’s Audley End House and Gardens in Saffron Walden last weekend.

The family business was started in 2009 by brothers James and Will Gadd.

In the competition, companies from across the East of England were challenged to put their landscaping skills to the test by building a garden in just 16.5 hours.

Steve Smith of the Association of Professional Landscapers said: “Gadd Brothers have proven their expertise by carrying out a well thought out plan in which they have made strategic decisions regarding markings, levels and construction.

“In every skill required, from masonry, paving and creating a water feature to planting and finishing, Gadd Brothers won with a clear head and deserves its Platinum award.”

The event was highlighted by the editors of BBC Gardeners’ World Magazine, BBC Gardeners’ World TV presenters and special guests.

Attendees took part in expert plant tours and flower shows, shared garden inspirations, visited the BBC Good Food Market and enjoyed live music.
