Free Popular Florida Landscaping Seminar Held Feb. 19 at Eau Gallie High School

BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – This year’s free annual Florida-Friendly Landscaping Seminar will be held in the auditorium of Eau Gallie High School on February 19 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., with a recording from 8:15 a.m.

In addition to numerous suppliers, there will be four captivating presentations:

9 a.m. – 9:45 a.m.: “Creating habitat for winged fauna” by Skip Healy, Change of Greenery

9:45 a.m. -10:30 a.m.: “10 things that are being done to help the lagoon that you probably haven’t heard of” by Kathy Hill, Indian River Lagoon National Estuary Program

10.45 a.m. – 11.30 a.m.: “Grow your own delicious food!” by Sally Scalera, UF/IFAS Extension, Brevard County

11:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.: “Florida-friendly landscaping in HOAs and everywhere!” by Claire Lewis, University of Florida – Florida Friendly Landscaping Program

Once the speakers have concluded, door prizes will be awarded to the winning ticket holders. All participants who complete the surveys will receive goody bags containing hose nozzles, gardening gloves and native plant seeds.

Registration is not compulsory but encouraged.

This free seminar also includes muffins and donuts from Love Bugs Bakery, coffee, and other goodies. Participants must bring their own reusable water bottles. To fill them, water in large jugs will be provided.

The event is planned and hosted by the City of Melbourne, City of Palm Bay, City of Satellite Beach, Brevard County Natural Resources Management, Brevard County Utilities Service, University of Florida/IFAS Brevard Extension and Indian River Lagoon National Estuary Program/Indian River Lagoon Council.
